GCATS
Georgia Crisis Assistance Teams for Schools

In the aftermath of the episodes of school violence across the nation, GASP embraced the formation of a statewide crisis response team shortly after the 1999 Spring Conference. Following the lead of NASP, the NOVA response model was adopted to help a school system cope under the weight of various traumatic crises such as homicide, suicide, hostage situation, kidnapping, death, accident, or natural disasters.

Goals for the teams will be to respond in a quick manner during the critical time frame, support the school in reducing acute stress, and restore and enhance adaptive capacities of those affected. Provided is a table of the regional teams with team members and their worksites.
