February 29, 2008 :
SE School Psych. Consortium hosts- Building Resiliency: A Nonthematic
Approach to Small Groups Counseling. With changing roles, counseling
on a group and individual level may be something we provide for academic
or behavioral issues. Presenter is Karen Griffith, a school counselor with
over 20 years experience in special and regular education. She will be
sharing ways to build resiliency in children, provide tools and session
guides for leaders and provide various means for pro-social and positive
aspects in school life. Workshop provides 5 PLU's. Space will be limited
to 35 registrants and cost is $20 (includes lunch). Registration is online or

Region 6 Workshop on Leaping into RTI with Leslie French (Progress
Monitoring Tools, Strategies, and Interventions for Academics), Maggie
Kjer (Progress Monitoring Tools, Strategies, and Interventions for
Behavior), and Dr. Leslie Trahant of the Marcus Institute (Differential
Diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder: Instruments, Best Practices,

March 2-5, 2008 : 19th Annual Youth at Risk
Conference. Successful Programs for Empowering Youth: Overcoming
Poverty, Violence, and Failure. Located at Hyatt Regency in Savannah. Cost
varies from $55 and up depending on the number of days and workshops
selected.

Northwest Georgia School Psychologists/Speech-Language Pathologists
Consortia: Autism Spectrum Disorders. Presenter Chantal Sicile-Kira,
has authored two books dealing with autism. Her first book, "Autism
Spectrum Disorders" was the recipient of the 2005 Autism Society of
America's Outstanding Literary Work of the Year award. She provides
useful, practical, and insightful guidance on topics ranging from
transition to sexuality. Cost $35. Maximum registrants is 90. Location is
Holiday Inn Cartersville.

April 4, 2008 :
Region 2 workshop is hosting Bruce Bracken. Dr. Bracken will be speaking
on the CAB, CAD, CAIR and CAT in differentiating EBD, Social
Maladjustment, and ADHD. It will begin at 9am and end at 4pm and held at
Mt. Tabor Park, 1550 E. Paulding Drive, Dallas, GA 30157. Please contact
